The Vision
When I was 13 years old, God placed a desire in my heart for Africa. I remember that day so clearly as I committed, “Here am I, Lord, send me.” Through life there were so many twists and turns, but I held tight to God’s promise. And here we are 36 years later, and God is providing in ways far greater than I could have dreamed.
God’s Provision
This journey began with a blessing from HRM Oba Wasiu Oyedele Saka; The Elero of Ilero Land, whose generosity opened the door for us to receive land for the center. We are deeply grateful for his kindness. Through every step, God has shown His faithfulness. He has guided, opened doors, and confirmed again and again that this work belongs to Him. I am also thankful for my husband, Ibrahim, whose steadfast support has carried this vision forward. God has used both of these men in powerful ways to bring His plans to life.
What’s in a Name
As I prayed, God brought back a conversation I once had with my husband — how meaningful it would be to honor my father by placing his name over an establishment. Growing up, I had the blessing of seeing God’s love lived out through my dad. He was a man transformed by God’s power, faithfully leading his family in the ways of the Lord. He made sure we knew who God was and that He would provide for every need. His faith was unwavering, and he trusted God completely.
So, in honor of my dad, we have named the center the “Terrence Stanley Gustafson Center.” My prayer is that every child who walks through its doors will feel the love of our heavenly Father.
The Goal
By God’s grace, provision and your support, we will begin construction of the center at the end of April 2026. The goal is to provide space for students to study, play and learn about Jesus. Our first goal is to secure the property with the perimeter wall and then dig a borehole that will provide consistent fresh water to the community and supply water for construction. Then we will begin to construct the building and begin to create a safe space. Once we have the building in place we will begin to plan and build our community outreaches. As we will listen and walk where God leads each step of the way, we will keep you updated.
